Sebastian Salsbury is a professional trail runner from Santa Barbara, California—holding dual US and Austrian nationality. Sebastian developed an unwavering passion for running at an early age, exploring his local trails and the rugged Santa Ynez Mountains. This passion is a true family affair; Sebastian grew up in a tightly-knit household where everyone shares a deep love for the sport, with his family being both his biggest fans and active trail runners themselves.

Throughout his youth, Sebastian captured the attention of the sport’s biggest names as one of the few young athletes consistently showing up to toe the line at daunting endurance events. His enthusiasm and competence in the mountains did not go unrecognized. Major brands stepped up to support him, while legends of the sport mentored him—inspiring Sebastian to become a vocal advocate for youth inclusion in racing. Before even reaching adulthood, he had completed over 50 trail and endurance races, was featured in award-winning documentaries, and authored various articles for major running and outdoor publications.

Now a professional runner in his early twenties, Sebastian is finally competing on the adult stage. Supported by his close-knit family every step of the way, he aims to positively shape the future of trail running and accelerate its growth. By doing so, he hopes to show the world what is possible when youth get involved in the sport at an early age—particularly in North America, which has traditionally lacked the youth development systems seen in Europe.

"From as far back as I can remember, my goal was to be one of the greats in the sport," Sebastian describes. "As a kid, I raced against adults for many years. Now, I'm ready to compete against the best, on equal ground, as an adult."
